Overview of Lithium Silicate

Lithium silicate Liquid

Lithium silicate Introduction

Lithium silicate, also known as lithium water glass, is an odorless, transparent or translucent, weakly alkaline liquid with a pH value between 11 and 12. Its relative density and viscosity vary by grade, with a relative density ranging from 1.16 to 1.20 (at 20°C).

Liquid lithium silicate is soluble in water and alkaline solutions, but insoluble in alcohols and organic solvents. It reacts with acids to form a gel. It exhibits self-drying properties; after water evaporation, it forms a water-insoluble dry film with irreversible hydration characteristics.

Our company employs an innovative production process to manufacture lithium silicate in a variety of specifications. The product is colorless, transparent, and chemically stable, with superior quality and extremely low levels of impurity ions. We can produce lithium silicate in any modulus between 2.9 and 4.9, with concentrations of 22–23%, and can also customize products according to customer requirements.

Lithium silicate Applications

1.Water-Based Coating Binders

As the core binder in water-based zinc-rich coatings, these binders leverage their self-drying film-forming properties and excellent water resistance to replace traditional organic resins, thereby providing environmentally friendly and long-lasting cathodic protection against rust.

2.High-Temperature Coatings

Capitalizing on their excellent heat resistance (up to 1000°C), these coatings are applied to metal or ceramic surfaces as high-temperature and thermal shock-resistant coatings to protect the substrate during extreme temperature fluctuations.

3.Surface Protection Coatings

When applied to metal, ceramic, or glass surfaces, these coatings form a dense protective film that provides corrosion and oxidation resistance by blocking oxygen and corrosive agents.

4.Building Material Modifiers

Used as concrete enhancers/curing agents, these modifiers penetrate into the concrete matrix and react to form a gel that fills pores, thereby improving surface hardness and abrasion resistance.
